Price Averages
How do you know you are being charged fair prices for the locksmith services you are receiving in Middle Tennessee? Of course, you will find variations in prices that are charged. But, generally speaking, the locksmith who is the busiest may charge you a higher rate because he is highly rated and his services are in high demand. The low prices are generally charged by new locksmiths who are trying to get started and who may have very little work. These rules, however, do not always apply. Some excellent locksmiths price for volume sales, others price high and work fewer jobs.
Beware of overpriced locksmiths! If you do not ask for a firm price before the locksmith arrives, he is going to assume you're loaded and he will not hesitate to pad his wallet at your expense. Also, the 1-800 scam artists are trained to mislead you about the price. Trust me. If you do not read my "Avoid Scams" page, you may regret it!
Always remember that accepting a price quote for locksmith services without asking for references is dangerous.
Service call charges in this area run from $45 to $75, normally. Sometimes, I do not charge a service call. The job is large enough at times to cover minimum operating expenses. The prices below are just what you can expect, they are not always accurate. Always call for a bid.
